Washington School Bleeding-Control Preparedness
Washington Senate Bill 5790, enacted as RCW 28A.210.440, requires school districts beginning in the 2026–27 school year to maintain accessible bleeding-control equipment on each school campus, provide designated employee training, and inspect supplies annually and after each use.
The law identifies equipment categories that include an appropriate tourniquet, compression and bleeding-control bandages, latex-free gloves, permanent markers, scissors, and approved instructional documents.
The BP2T Red IFAK Tourniquet and Professional configurations contain several supplies identified in the law and can support a school’s broader bleeding-control preparedness program. Purchasing an individual kit does not, by itself, establish full legal compliance. Each school district is responsible for reviewing current requirements and determining appropriate equipment quantities, placement, training, inspections, and supplemental materials.
